Marina Problems Debated

Marina Problems Debated

Editor

Increased expenses of $7640 for the reconstruction of the inside marina boat ramp were approved by the Community Redevelopment Agency at its March 18 meeting. The costs were for extra concrete and demolition of newly discovered underwater structures. However, solutions to two problems, structure problems on a marina wooden dock and a large hole just beyond the boat ramp, generalized much discussion, but ended tabling both issues.

An earlier disagreement over the size of a depression at the end of the boat rmap pavement and allocation of grant funds collided. Use of funds not spent to fix the hole were proposed for fixing the 107-foot long wooden dock.
However, that would leave the now-recognized hole unfixed and in need of another grant from the state.

After much discussion the CRA requested that Taylor Construction Co. provide tentative solutions to the problems for discussion at a later meeting.
Prior to adjournment of the meeting, City Attorney David Coffey gave a thirty-five minute review of the CRA budget and projection of future revenues. A hard copy of the budget was not immediately available. However, CRA revenues are expected to decrease over the next two or three years.
Meanwhile, the CRA is considering purchase of four lots adjacent to the Marina Hardware store.
