Lions Induct New Officers

Cedar Key Lions Club

Some of the new Lions Club officers inducted recently include, left to right, Rory Brennan, President; Betty Asbury, Director; John Hollandsworth, Treasurer; Jackie Gorman, Secretary; Mike Day, Outgoing President; and Maurice Hendrix, Director. Directors Bob Robertson and Roland Senecal were not present.

Cedar Key Lions Look Back on Great Year
And Induct New Officers

Cedar Key Lions club members met and dined over delicious soup, salad, seafood delicacies and deserts at the Island Hotel Restaurant for their annual new officers induction dinner on June 10th.

Outgoing Lions Club President Mike Day inducted incoming President Rory Brennan, Vice President Bob Robertson, Secretary Jackie Gorman, Treasurer John Hollandsworth, and Directors Maurice Hendrix, Betty Asbury, and Roland Senecal.

Committee Chairmen and coordinators for the coming year are:
Bulletin Editor – Judy Duvall; Hospitality – Jennie Pinto; Entertainment – Anna White; Festivals – Maurice Hendrix & Roland Senecal; Graphics/Webmaster – Dick Martens; Membership – Bob Robertson; PR - Rory Brennan; Tail Twister – Betty Asbury; Vision - Sarah Cardona and Kathy Day; Scholarship/Youth Interaction – Heath Davis; Hearing Aid – Roland Senecal; Seafood Festival Parade – Billie Carlton; Adopt-A-Highway – Gina Montgomery

Looking back over the past year, Day recapped the year's milestones and achievements, including the reintegration of the Cedar Key Lioness into the Cedar Key Lions club, organizing the Food in the Park and music for the Seafood and Arts Festivals, the Seafood Festival Parade; $10,000 in support of the school playground, two $1,000 scholarships, support of the Safety Patrol field trip to Washington, as well as over $30,000 in financial support of community projects, including the Cedar Key Arts Center summer children's program, the Arts Festival, the Cedar Key Library, the Historical Society, Clothe a Child, The Cedar Key Food Pantry, LARC, Another Way Domestic violence shelter, the 4th of July fireworks and regional and State Lions activities.

The Cedar Key Lions Club also sponsored several cataract surgeries, paid for exams and eyeglasses for people in need of vision care and recycled hundreds of used eyeglasses donated by community members. Lions also pitched in to build a handicapped access ramp for a home bound resident and committed to Adopt-a-Highway's quarterly clean up of two miles of Route 24 entering town.
