CK Woman`s Club Hosts District 5 Meet

Cedar Key Woman`s Club

From all sections of District Five the Woman`s Club members came attend the Florida Federation of Woman`s Club`s (FFWC) District Five meeting, hosted by the Cedar Key Woman`s Club (CKWC), culminating the yearly calendar of Woman`s Club events.

Recognized at the head table were Geraldine Ward, outgoing District Director; Carolyn Campbell, the new District 5 Director; Bunny Sandlin, Past FFWC Pres. and current Co-President of the Williston Club; Carlann Stickler, Parliamentarian for both FFWC and District 5, Bette Johnson, District 5 Secretary; Marion Cason, FFWC Member at Large; and Betty Asbury, President of CKWC.

Following comments by Cedar Key "Ambassador" Jan Hendrix describing to our guests places of local interest, President Betty Asbury spoke of the upcoming Clamerica event, inviting all to join our "Clam-munity" celebration!

Awards were made to individual Clubs for outstanding individual achievements, followed by a slide presentation and interactive song endorsing the national and international Heifer Project, a program to feed hungry communities here and abroad.

Seventy-one guests, from Crystal River, Gainesville, Inverness, Keystone Heights, Melrose, Ocala, and Williston Clubs, dined on clam chowder from Tony's and croissants with chicken salad by Rachel Lawhon. A variety of desserts prepared by club members left a sweet taste to this first District 5 meeting in Cedar Key.

Whether it was a door prize, an award, or an inspiration, the District 5 Clubwomen left feeling the pride in the past and purpose for the future that characterizes the Cedar Key Woman's Club.
