Police Chief Search Progresses

After the call for applicants for Cedar Key's Police Chief went out on the Internet there were many responses. By the July 31 deadline, twenty-nine of the forty-six people who asked for applications filed all required materials. Applications came in from as far away as Afghanistan and Arizona.

The members of the Cedar Key Commission will review all applications before selecting five or six top prospects for interviews. Eventually a public workshop will consider the applicants further. The validity of submitted information will be checked before a final choice is made by the Commission. According to Maggi Funchion, who is handling the paperwork, selection of a Police Chief may be complete by late September of 2008.
