MAYOR PROCLAIMS, “NO MORE DRUGS IN CEDAR KEY”

February 19, 2019

At the Tuesday evening Cedar Key Commission meeting, Mayor Davis made a formal proclamation which reads, “No More Drugs in Cedar Key.” He explained that this was the first proclamation he had made and found it necessary, after his working with Commissioner Susan Rosenthal and Police Chief Virgil Sandlin of lat. He referenced the more complicated events that have involved Cedar Key in the last six months: car robberies, stolen guns, a murder.  He further explained that drugs “are not just a person’s problem, it’s our problem.” Davis said this is proclamation is “super simple” and “it’s a line in the sand.” Davis will stand with Police Chief Sandlin.

At the commission meeting, Chief Sandlin spoke briefly and asked the community to speak up when anyone hears or learns of anything that will help him enforce the law regarding illegal drug use, manufacture, or any activity surrounding it.

As Vice Mayor Sue Colson remarked, you must “say something if you see something.”
