Cedar Key, the USDA Rural Community of the Year

Cedar Key, on February 3, held a celebration of being named USDA Rural Community of the Year. A luncheon attended by ninety officals and community dignitaries preceeded presentation of the award. The luncheon was provided by nine Cedar Key businesses. Five Cedar Key service clubs served food, drinks and porvided deserts.


Mayor Sue Colson(standing), behind USDA Director of Rural Business-Cooperative Programs Joe Mueller who presented the Community of the Year award.


The members of the Cedar Key School FFA Jr. opened the ceremony with a demonstration of parilimentary skills.


A crowd of onlookers filled Second Street for the award ceramony.


Mistress of Ceramonies Caely Hibbits looks on as Director Joe Mueller praises Cedar Key's partnerships for progress.


Director Mueller, City Commissioners and Cedar Key Aquaculture Assoc. Board members with a check for the clammer parking lot paid for with USDA funds.
