Obituary

Floyd Ray `Bear` Lester, 81 of Chiefland passed away May 7, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland. He was born in Coffie County, Alabama to the late Joe Tom and Gedie Lester. He served his country in the US Army and was a Military Police. Mr. Lester was a member of Hardeetown Baptist Church; he was a Mason and a retired truck driver. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, tennis and all sports and was a member of the Chiefland Golf and Country Club, where he was Club Champion in 1974 and Super Senior Club Champion in 1996. But his number one enjoyment was his family.


He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Violet Lester; daughter Susan (James) Horne, both of Chiefland, sons Steve (Kerrie) Lester of Jacksonville, David (Karen) Gore, Greg (Connie) Gore, both of Chiefland, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews and many great nieces & nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and grandson Brett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hardeetown Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Hudson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday night, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Floyd`s memory to Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties, 311 N.E 9th ST, Chiefland, FL 32626
