If you were on the West coast of Florida between June the 20th and the 29th you sufferred high winds and steady rain. Hurricane Debby was blowing up the Gulf of Mexico those 9 days and making fishing trips on the water impossible.
My wife Jeannette and I stayed inside for 3 days straight during the worst of it. We were up late one night listening to the wind howl and rain slash all around us, hoping a tree wouldn`t crash thru our house, when a loud thud from on the rooftop got our attention real quick.
A large rain soaked heavy tree branch speared a hole thru the roof into the largest room. Of course the computer and T.V. were directly under the 2in. hole. We both sprang into action and collected the dripping water into a 5gal. bucket and then patched up the hole on the ceiling. The next morning there was a couple of hours of clear weather that allowed me to fix the hole on the roof. Saturday the 30th I was finally able to take a group from High Springs, Fl. out fishing around Cedar Key. The wind was around 8 to 10mph and the surface a little choppy as we motored thru and around the keys.
We fished over shallow sand and grass areas for 4 hours and the women came up with all the keepers. 3 men and 3 women. You know how it goes, the guys know it all, tell the women how to do this and do that, but that day the women brought all the meat home.
I cleaned Lulu Schweitzer`s trout and then Barbara Lopez`s trout also. There are trout all over the `flats` and redfish around the oyster bars.
