SUMMER ENDS AND FALL BEGINS --- WHAT’S ON THE AGENDA AT THE CKAC?

September 2, 2020

Although we know there will be some adjustments in how we do things, the Cedar Key Arts Center is moving ahead with plans for the 2020/2021 season.  Here are some reminders and updates for fall.

CEDAR KEYHOLE ARTIST CO-OP Y’ART SALE ends September 9.  If you haven’t had a chance to stop by the CKAC and enjoy browsing through the Keyhole’s summer sale, time is just about up.  All remaining items were marked down 50% yesterday, August 31; so, don’t miss this opportunity to find a great deal and support the Keyhole artists at the same time.

ARTS CENTER GALLERIES CLOSED FOR PAINTING beginning September 10.    In October, once painting is finished, the Art Center’s permanent Cathie Christie Collection will be on display through November 15.

OPEN COMMUNITY EXHIBIT (November-December)  Words and Works of Art.   Entry forms are available at the Arts Center and on-line at www.CedarKeyArtsCenter.org. Drop off entries by 5 pm, Tuesday, November 17.  The exhibit will run from November 20 through December 31, but there will not be a formal opening due to the pandemic.   Winners, including a People’s Choice Award, will be announced in January.

2021 FESTIVAL DESIGN CONTEST WINNER TAMMY ARCHE   Thanks to all the artists who participated.  This year’s theme is Working Waterfront and the OFCA Committee felt Tammy’s entry not only reflected the theme but also the spirit of Cedar Key. NOVEMBER WORKSHOPS:

The CKAC Board is anxious to restart workshops with the following restrictions for the protection of instructors and students:  group size less than 10;   6’ social distancing;  mask;  pre/post sanitation.  Workshop details will be on the website soon.

Tues, November 10, 9am-2pm   Swarvoski Crystal Beaded Bracelet with Joni Sielaff

Monday, November 16, 10am-3pm  Silk Dyeing with Virginia Stevenson

Note that Monday sewing and quilting classes have been cancelled for the fall.

Plans for 2021 are well underway.  In November/December the board will re-evaluate pandemic based restrictions for openings, workshops, festival, and other group activities.
