Letter To Editor - Post Office

Linda Dale

Dear Editor:

We live in the United States of America, right? We don`t live in the swamp of Bangladesh where you can cut the humidity and heat, whether you are inside or outside, with a knife. Air conditioning? Ha.

In the United States of America we have air conditioning. We live in a very humid and warm area. Our houses and businesses and cars are air conditioned. We go from cool spot to cool spot.

Well, not so in the U.S. Post Office here in Cedar Key. If you just go to pick up your mail from a post office box you may not know that the office of the post office has been without air conditioning for at least (could be longer) 1 1/2 weeks. There have been oh-so-many promises of a final fixing of the problem. Apparently the owner of the building hasn`t considered a new unit. Workmen tinker with the existing unit to no avail. The problem stands as I write this.

I do not see why anyone in that windowless, airless place should have to work under these conditions. Why is it taking so long to fix this problem? How many of us would put up with this at home? One night might be too long for me.

I don`t believe Cedar Key is known for putting up with injustices. Perhaps you were not aware of this problem. Now you are.
