FINALIZES BUDGET, APPROVES FRDAP GRANT

MEETING SPECIFICS: The Cedar Key City Commission met on Monday September 28, 2020, at 6 pm, at Cedar Key Community Center for its Final Budget Hearing. Present were Mayor Heath Davis, Vice-Mayor Sue Colson, and Commissioners Susan Rosenthal, Jim Wortham, and Nancy Sera.

Seats were arranged to physically distance audience members.

Staff in attendance included: City of Cedar Key Police Chief Virgil Sandlin, Fire Chief and Emergency Operations Director Robert Robinson, Public Works Director Michelle Petersen, City Clerk Crystal Sharp, and Receptionist Telicia Winfield. All were physically distanced.
 
Among those in audience were Laura Goodwin and Frank and Mandy Offerle.
 
RESOLUTION 442 FINAL BUDGET PASSED
Commissioners unanimously approved the final budget For Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
 
RESOLUTION 443 GRANT APPLICATION APPROVED
Commissioners unanimously approved Vice-Mayor Sue Colson’s request to submit an application to Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, FRDAP, for a $50,000 grant to make major repairs to the equipment in City Park. The playground equipment was purchased for $76,000 in 2003 and has a fifteen-year life expectancy, reported Colson. The poles and platforms stabilizing and supporting the structure have been worn with time and salt water. It is time to repair Them.

No matching funds are required with the grant. The city has completed four such applications successfully in recent years. Time is of the essence as the due date is October 15, 2020.
