HALLOWEEN WEEK BROUGHT NO TRICKS TO THE CEDAR KEY FOOD PANTRY. TREATS, HOWEVER WERE REPLETE.
Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pounds of meat, dairy, fruit, and staples arrived at the Pantry on Tuesday of this week.

FoodPntry 9786xeAmong Pantry Director Sue Colson’s heroes who regularly meet the trucks, unload them, and tote the contents inside the Pantry to be separated and placed in refrigerators and on shelves, is Cedar Key’s own Mayor Heath Davis. Colson said of these volunteers, “The Pantry so appreciates their dedication, reliability, and strength. We couldn’t do it without them.” As Davis and Colson show, the Pantry is truly a community effort.

WHAT TREATS THIS WEEK AT THE PANTRY?FoodPntry 9790xe
Dairy items included eggs, milk, and yogurt. Fruits included shiny, fresh apples and plump bananas. Vegetables were many; fresh, fat cucumbers, onions, and Idaho potatoes name but a few.

Meats included hot dogs and huge briskets of beef. Bread, lentils, English muffins, and other breadstuffs were available. Bottled water was also for the offering.
SOMETHING PERSONAL, ALWAYS
As always, the Pantry provides a personal touch. This week’s item was a small but delicious Halloween package of candy for the kids, the only sugary thing in the Pantry, most probably. …And winter socs for those in need.
