WIFIBER’S HIGH SPEED BROADBAND INTERNET SERVICE PARTIALLY IN CEDAR KEY, REMAINDER  COMING SOON

November 17, 2002

Wifiber, the company that has offered, and continues to offer, high-speed broadband internet service to the city, the Cedar Key Water and Sewer District, the Library, and any person near these locations free Internet service, came to town today to plan its next step for complete  island service.

WiFiber Corporation President Michael Johns, and his “right-hand-man” Jeremy surveyed the tower and the potential best placement of the remaining antennae that will be placed upon it in the next several weeks.  When the antennae are placed, the entire island will have access to the service.

Johns’ service delivers wireless high-speed internet to Cedar Key by beaming the signal from Chiefland, where Wifiber currently beams service to Williston and Trenton.

Even before the remaining antennae are put in place, those between the water tower and City Hall, in that 90-degree area, may be served now because the technology is in place.  Wifiber personnel, able to answer questions about rates, service options, speed, and more may be found at http://wifiber.network/ or 352 490 5433.  The installation fee is  $125 for residential and $250 for a business.  A service upgrade takes   five minutes.
