OYSTERS GALORE AT AIRPORT ROAD

In June 2020, our team worked with Reef Innovations, Inc. to install 16 new reefs off of Airport Rd. Our goals with these reefs were many, but among them was the goal of increasing oyster populations and the associated services (e.g., water filtration). To monitor success, we applied multiple methods including visual estimates of cover using quadrats and 3-D modelling of the reef ball surfaces. Monitoring is still ongoing but early results are very promising! Oysters love the reef ball surfaces, inside and out.
