“CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM” …
WATCHWORDS FOR PLANNING FOR
2021 OLD FLORIDA CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS

At the December 15, 2020, Cedar Key City Commission Meeting, Cedar Key Arts Center Board of Directors President Bev Ringenberg informed the commission and the public that her group is “cautiously optimistic” in its planning for the Spring Arts Festival.  The Old Florida Festival of the Arts will hopefully occur on April 17 and 18, 2021.

The decision was made after much outreach to and input from Chamber of Commerce members, Cedar Key School, local businesses, and community members.

No “festival as usual” will be another recurring phrase, reported Ringenberg.   “The health and safety of our community is the primary concern, including our volunteers, our businesses, our city workers, and the artists we invite,” Ringenberg made clear.

The re-envisioned COVID-safer event will contain the following changes.

DEC 29 CKAC OFFA A smaller event with 86 artists instead of 120The Arts Center has completed its jury process for the remaining artist spots and promises that it looks like a TERRIFIC show.    So, with optimism, and regular reality checks, the Center is going to proceed with planning for the event.
