CEDAR KEY OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT

The sixth annual Cedar Key Open Golf Tournament was held on the beautiful sunny Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at the Chiefland Golf and Country Club. In spite of Covid concerns, 19 teams signed up, with a good time had by all. A low-country boil was held at the Big Deck and was hosted by both the Big Deck and Cooke’s Seafood. The tournament earned $7,750 and recipients include the Cedar Key Boys Baseball and Girls Softball teams and the Friends of the Cedar Key Library.

A big thank you to Bryan and Darlene Skarupski and the Big Deck Bar and Grill, Rick Cooke of Cooke’s Seafood, as well as the legion of volunteers who organize, promote, and execute the (tournament). Your dedication to our island community is greatly appreciated and the proceeds often enable community organizations to make purchases that seem outside the realm of possibility. There was a chorus of friendly crowd ‘boos’ in response to the announced first place winner: Rick Dale’s team at 14 under. Fugate Law team came in 2nsecond place at 11 under. Third place was Barbaque Bill’s team. Caddigan’s team came in last. Other winners were Longest Putt, Closest to the pin, and 50/50 raffle at $290.
