CELEBRATES FIFTH BIRTHDAY

They feasted on the Market’s ribs and potato salad and more edibles brought by Gardeners, including everything from Robin Gillies’ Cole slaw to Pat Deverin’s with-and-without-meat beans, to Sandy Lindhout’s brownies.
Community Garden Leader Tom Deverin conducted the Annual Meeting business with alacrity; in seven minutes, the deed was done. He welcomed and updated all on what Gardeners are doing to further their mission.
• The Free Seed Program continues to prosper, amassing the number of dollars needed to pay monthly water bills. The program is made possible by: those Gardeners who meet and fill seed packets four to six times annually; the person continually filling the Free Seed basket; and the person who arranges for the seeds, packets, etc.
• Regular Cedar Key Food Pantry donations continue. Thanks go to those who plant, harvest, and deliver the greens to the Pantry.

• Mandy Offerle reported that the Garden is solvent. As not many dollars have been expended lately because of COVID restrictions, this solvency allowed the Garden’s Annual Meeting ribs and salad to be purchased for the first time. Gardeners aslo formally approved further assisting the Williston group.
• Most importantly was the celebration of the Garden’s fifth year in operation….to wit…Colin read his poem dedicated to the garden:

we permit even tourists,

and don't pick our veggies.
But today is for us to reflect, over riblets and beans,

One thing's for sure, if your world's topsy-turvy,
gardening's cheaper than visiting Gainesville for therapy -
though you might get lumbago
