LIONS, FUGATES THANK FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS
October 25, 2018
Some seventy-five volunteers were feted by the Cedar Key Lions Club and Janice and Norm Fugate at the latter’s office on Second Street on Thursday, October 18, from 5:30 until 8 pm. Janice’s culinary expertise waxed wonderfully in a magnificent spread which included shrimp, grits, jambalaya, sushi, corn, an incredible array of pastries including triple chocolate cake, and a delightfully full bar.
After a day of work and preparation at the Cedar Key Arts Center, Susan Rosenthal remarked, “Spectacular party!” Janice Fugate remarked, "We are always happy to participate in this capacity."
As nearly every organization in Cedar Key assists in the production of the Seafood Festival, nearly every one was represented at the delightful gathering: Cedar Key’s Mayor Heath Davis, Cedar Key School's Principal Kathy Lawrence, Florida’s Nature Coast Conservancy’s Rick Anthony, Cedar Keys Audubon’s Jay Bushnell and Janie Veltkamp, Cedar Key Historical Society’s Anna White Hodges, Cedar Key Aquaculture Association’s and Lion President Mike Hodges, and many, many more.
A more delightful preface to a busy, busy weekend could not be possible.
