Bring yourself and your enthusiasm to this workshop, but don't worry about bringing a drum: our presenter will bring plenty of them with him. Jon Sperry, Ph.D., is a staff counselor at the Counseling and Psychological Services at Florida Atlantic University and Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lynn University.
Jon has facilitated group drumming experiences for 12 years in various settings, and he has found it to be a wonderful way for individuals to experience joy and connection to others. "This program is an experiential process that will incorporate group drumming activities to encourage community engagement," he said.
The hand drum is an ancient healing tool that uses rhythm and movement to help individuals enhance personal and social well-being. He states, "as individuals move through time and circumstance, they have the choice to cooperate (maintain rhythm with others) or focus on self-centered striving (being out of rhythm). Drums will be provided, but you may bring your own or any other musical instruments that you would like to incorporate into the experience.
