NEW CKPOTTERY 2019
LETTER FROM MATT BROOKS,
CHAIR, LEVY COUNTY COMMISSION

March 24, 2020

My Fellow Citizens of Levy County:MAR 24 LEVY EMERG Commissioner Brooks Letter to the Residents

We are experiencing an unprecedented time in our county, state and nation. Our nation is under attack by a virus that started in China and is now a global pandemic. As a county we are meeting daily to assess the needs of our community as well as monitoring the positive confirmed cases all over the state of Florida. I am pleased to report that there have been no cases in our county to date. I want to thank you for your diligence and abundance of caution being taken to keep your family, friends, neighbors and the most vulnerable of our community safe.

It is essential that everyone take extra precautions and practice good hygiene. Every single person has a role to play in defeating this virus and we will defeat it together. Wash your hands, clean surfaces that are oftenused, cover your face and mouth if you sneeze or cough. Keep your distance from people as much as possible and if you are able to, please stay home and limit public contact. If you are sick or even not feeling well, don’t go out in public.

We also need to be mindful when shopping for our daily needs. Right now is not a time for panic and purchasing unnecessary amounts of goods. Purchase for your needs and please leave the opportunity for others to make their purchases for their households as well.

As a county, we have faced great challenges and we always lend help to one another in times of need. I am already hearing many stories of people coming forward to help the elderly do their shopping, supporting local restaurants and even checking on neighbors and kids making sure they have the support they need. We will get through this together and be stronger as a county than ever before.

And finally, we could not close this without thanking the people that are on the front lines, working day and night to keep us all safe. Our county and city Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Healthcare workers, public works, poll workers, grocery store workers, gas station attendants, truckers, and everyone else that doesn’t have the option of staying home and must put themselves out there to make sure that the rest of us can get what we need.
