These photos were taken at Shell Mound Road, at the big patch of thistles. These thistles are "Butterfly Heaven!" Big bees like them, also.
The photo with the two bees shows an ancient, ragged swallowtail butterfly: a reminder that most creatures don't ever get to retire.
The other one is more colorful and shows a swallowtail butterfly in the prime of life, slurping up the good stuff.
