HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM TO REMAIN CLOSED May 18, 2020
Because of Covid-19, the Cedar Key Historical Society held this year’s voting for board members online. In order to certify the election, 10% of Historical Society members needed to vote. The response was 25% of the members voted, and the vote was unanimous. This year’s board members will be Vice-President Lisa Custer, Edward Gonzalez-Tennant, Mendy Allen, Ginessa Mahar, Bob Murphy, George Sresovich, and Rebecca Gallagher.
The board voted to keep the museum closed. A special meeting will occur on June 2, 2020, to review the situation and decide whether to open or remain closed. The decision will be posted on the Society’s web page and Ffacebook page. When the museum is opened, it will be in stages to protect the docents, members, and visitors. At this time, the plan is to open with private tours in order to maintain controls, including wearing face masks and using hand sanitizer, if applicable at that time.
