CEDAR KEY, FL. – Cedar Key residents will notice a traffic shift this week as motorists using C Street to access businesses on Dock Street will be moved to a new, temporary bridge.
The shift to the new bridge, which is slightly east of the current bridge, is scheduled to take place Wednesday, May 20, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Once the shift takes place, demolition will begin on the current C Street Bridge and construction will begin on the new bridge. The $6.7 million Florida Department of Transportation project began in November 2019 and is expected to be completed later this year.
Anderson Columbia Co., Inc., is completing the work for FDOT.
The new bridge will be raised three feet and consist of a 17-foot, one-way travel lane, dual 8-foot parking lanes, and dual 6-foot sidewalks.Troy Roberts
