HEART HEALTH SCREENING
Wednesday was Heart Health Screening Day at the Cedar Key Food Pantry. Kyle Roberts, from the Health Department, joined us to discuss all the programs available in the area for keeping our hearts healthy. Roberts also took blood pressure readings for those wanting them.
THERMOMETER, ETCETERA
Ms. Sue, taught everyone about the importance of having a thermometer in every home. She also spoke about some interesting new over-the-counter products, such as the Kardia Mobile. This instrument, which can fit right into your pocket, is used for checking your EKG and other heart issues. Just by setting four fingers on the test pads, within seconds, the results show up on an app on your smartphone.
The Oxi Meter is put onto your finger like a clothespin and tests your heart rate and oxygen level in a matter of seconds.
STAFF, VOLUNTEERS BUSY
Alex made yummy, heart healthy fruit cups and cracker snacks for everyone to nibble on.
Ms. Eileen and Pastor John handed out meat in the freezer room. Ms. Mary and Ms. Judy gave out bag loads of food in our dry goods room.
I was signing in our new patrons and welcoming them to our Food Pantry. It was a wonderful educational day. I learned a lot, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
