unnamed 1“A TASTE OF ITALY” …A SELLOUT!

February 10, 2020

The Cedar Key Community Center, usually able to seat several hundred folks, could hardly contain those who wanted to munch on spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and dessert this last Saturday evening, February 8.  Extra table after extra table, immediately spread with red and white checkered tablecloths and topped with Italy-themed centerpieces, were set up as the 5 to 7 pm event, the Cedar Key Woman’s Club Annual Spaghetti Dinner.

A wonderfully coordinated group of Woman’s Club members made the night an easily sequenced, delightfully delicious, community-focused event.unnamed 7

Collecting tickets and greeting each attendee at the door was Linda Kimball.  Janet Ramsey was in place selling raffle tickets for the Kaleidoscope Dreams quilt, created by Ramsey herself and nearly a dozen other local quilters.  For a donation, a glass of wine, Total Wine’s Low Hanging Fruit, was available from bartenders Judy Duvall and Eileen Senecal.  Music, sounds of Italy, of course, was orchestrated by Pat Stephens.

unnamed 6The spaghetti and garlic bread kitchen crew were Rosemary Denisi, Chris Black, Beth Wright, Robin Jocellyn, Kathy Freidenfelds, and Nan Reed.  Salads were served by Sally Cycler, Gini Barss, Carla Westcott, and Rose Malinowski.  Desserts were served by Judy Treharne and Kaathy Salkaln.

The event reflects much of the rich, diverse community that is Cedar Key;  full-time and part-time Cedar Keyan area residents, old and young folks, retirees, business persons, watermen and women, and more were represented.

Cedar Key Woman’s Club President Katherine Dunlop said it best in a note to the Woman’s Club members.  Her thought seems to readily extend itself to the entire community.

“To sum up the evening in a ‘clamshell’.....

Our Cedar Key Woman's Club Spaghetti Dinner...A grand event that always brings together a part of the Cedar Key World and deepens friendships...thanks  to each and everyone of you who played a unique part in serving our community.”
