Though less well attended than in normal years, the Cedar Key Hurricane Preparedness /Hazardous Waste Day worked well, without a hitch, this past Thursday, May 21, 2020.
Though less well attended than in earlier non-COVID-19 virus years, the Cedar Key Hurricane Preparedness /Hazardous Waste Day worked well, without a hitch, this past Thursday, May 21, 2020.
Cedar Key staff worked tirelessly for the four-hour event, tossing old tires into recycle bins, greeting participants as they drove through, checking hurricane passes, and more.

UF / IFAS offered its “Hurricane and Severe Weather Checklist for Clammers.”
Sea Grant offered its “Hurricane and Severe Weather Checklist for Boaters.”
Levy Emergency Management offered “Helpful Website Links,”
Cedar Key Water and Sewer District offered its “Hurricane Preparedness Guide.”
UF / IFAS offered its “Hurricane and Severe Weather Checklist for Clammers.”
Sea Grant offered its “Hurricane and Severe Weather Checklist for Boaters.”

“Make Your Own Disaster Kit,” “Hurricane Tracking Map and Get a Plan.”
The City of Cedar Key offered its “Emergency Planning Guide” booklet
and its notice from Cedar Key Emergency Management.
HAZARDOUS WASTE PUT WHERE IT BELONGS
With the help of U.S. Ecology representatives from Tampa, Cedar Key Public Works Director Michelle Peterson, James Custer, and Brian Hathcock accepted all sorts of hazardous waste and sorted it into the appropriate place for transport to waste substations.. Paint thinners, chemicals, cleaning agents, resins, transmission fluids, etc. were processed.

AND, AHHHHH, THE COOKIES
Among the important were the part of the day was, of course, the Cedar Key Woman's Club cookies. Eileen Senecal, Judy Treharn, and their fellows, unable to do drive-through hot dogs, did a marvelous job on cookies.
