A recent gift to the Cedar Key Historical Society brings the Society`s museum archives to a new level. Lindon Lindsey, a former resident, recently presented the Society with his entire personal library. The collection encompasses the history of Cedar Key and Levy County as well as information on surrounding towns and counties. Society volunteers are presently sorting through and cataloguing the vast amount of data, which will eventually become available to history buffs, scholars and writers. Of particular interest will be several authentic old maps. The library will be housed on the second floor of the Andrews House. The Lindon Lindsey Library is the type of legacy the Society believes will enrich its museum and confirm its mission to promote interest in and knowledge about Cedar Key`s unique heritage. A dedication ceremony is planned when the project is completed. |
