THE CIVIL WAR IN LEVY COUNTY
Coming SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., the Levy County Historical Society will present the third of three presentations about the invasion of the Civil War into Levy County. “THE SKIRMISH AT STATION NO. 4" sets forth the events that occurred early on the morning of February 13, 1865, between Union and Confederate soldiers in the fields on the mainland near one of the station stops on the Florida Railroad.
Although both sides fought a valiant battle, you will have to join us to hear Bob Wooley, historian, reenactor, and member of the Gainesville Civil War Roundtable of North Florida, tell us about the event.
The free event will be held at the Cedar Key RV Resort, 11980 SW Shiloh Road, Sumner (12 miles west of Otter Creek, just north of the Marathon Gas Station on SR 24). Ample parking available across the Shiloh Road from the RV resort and handicap parking behind the conference center.
