Meeting Specifics: The Cedar Key City Community Redevelopment Agency met on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at 7 pm, at Cedar Key City Hall, immediately after the City Commission Meeting adjourned.    Present were Heath Davis, Sue Colson, Royce Nelson, and Susan Rosenthal. Jim Wortham was not in attendance.

Staff in attendance included: City of Cedar Key Attorney Norm Fugate, Police Chief Virgil Sandlin, Fire Chief and Emergency Operations Director Robert Robinson, Public Works Director James Custer, City Clerk Nicole Gill, Assistant City Clerk Crystal Sharp, Staffers Telicia Winfield and Jennifer Sylvester, and Legal Assistant to Mr. Fugate Leslie Landress.  

Among those in the audience were: Libby Cagle, Mary and Phil Prescott, Rose Cantwell, Leslie Sturmer, Susie Horner, Christi Sheldone, Dell Weible, David Weible, Ricky Cooke, Tom Liebert, Buddy Scruggs, Lynn and James Martindale, Jeri and Bob Treat, and Mandy and Frank Offerle.

CRA MEMBERS SWORN IN

After CRA Director Nicole Gill read the oath of office, Heath Davis and Sue Colson were sworn in as CRA members. Jim Wortham was not in attendance and will be sworn in later date.

CRA CHAIR ELECTED

CRA members elected Royce Nelson to chair the CRA.

CRA VICE-CHAIR ELECTED

CRA members elected Sue Colson as CRA vice-chair.  

CRA DIRECTOR APPOINTED

CRA members reappointed Nicole Gill as CRA director.

MINUTES APPROVED

CRA members unanimously approved the December 18, 2018, Cedar Key Community Redevelopment Agency Meeting minutes.

CRA BUDGET 2019-2020 FISCAL YER

CRA Chair Royce Nelson and CRA Attorney Fugate explained that the CRA continues to make the required payment to SunTrust Bank as required by its 2007 Revenue Note. No city taxes are used to repay the loan; only Tax Increment Funds are used to do so.

Because property values have risen and real estate activity is increasing in Cedar Key, Tax Increment Funds are increasing. Should that continue, Nelson and Fugate calculate that the loan may be paid in approximately five years.

RESOLUTION 2019-001 PASSED

Resolution 2019-01, approved unanimously, adopted the 12019-2020 CRA budget.
