After a very successful fall season, the ladies of the Cedar Key Eagles Auxiliary 4194 are preparing for the winter & spring season. The Eagles Auxiliary is a service organization, working to raise monies for the national, state and local charities and organizations. We have scheduled and are planning 5 Wednesday Night Special Dinners, prepared by the ladies, and 3 Cook Offs. The Special Dinners are served between 5 - 7 pm., with a requested donation of $6.00 per dinner. The Cook Offs will take place on designated Saturdays at noon with an entry fee of $ 5.00 and prize to the winners. Wednesday night dinners and the Cook Offs are open to the public and are held at the Eagle`s little red clubhouse at the corner of "B" and 3rd Street. During the fall season of 2005, we focused our efforts locally. We raised $1200.00 to be used for scholarships for Cedar Key High School students and over $2100.00 to assist a local family with their medical expenses. With over $500.00 donated, our Children`s Christmas Shop where elementary school students purchased for a quarter gifts for their parents was quite successful. Through hard work and in the spirit of fun, the Aerie and Auxiliary Eagles` float won first place during the 2005 Cedar Key Seafood Festival Parade. Our dinners and other events planned for this season will benefit national, state & local charities. On national and state level, we support Alzheimer, Cancer & Heart Funds. Locally, we donate to Hospice, a shelter for abused women, the local food shelter and the summer children`s program at the local arts center. With support of our community, we raised over $4000.00 for our fall projects. With the help of our winter residents and visitors, we hope to do as well this season for our charities. Please plan to join us at the Eagles clubhouse for our Wednesday Night Special Dinners, take out or eat in. Make a pot of chili and enter it into the Chili Cook Off or just plan to enjoy a chili dinner with us. |
