LEVY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT UPDATE COVID-19

June 6, 2020

...an update from David Peaton, Levy Emergency Management

On June 5th 2020, the Florida Department of Health informed Levy County of an increase of 18 positive COVID-19 cases. The increases in positive cases come from a group of Non-Resident Visiting Agriculture Workers that are currently working in the Chiefland area of Levy County.

As with all cases, the Florida Department of Health is working with the group and is isolating all of the current positive cases along with all of the other workers that may have been exposed.

The Florida Department of Health will continue to monitor and test all of the individuals involved and will conduct the contact tracing process.  They will keep us up to date with any new information or any additional safety precautions that need to be taken.

Following is a breakdown of the current positive/released cases. Please note, this DOES NOT include the 18 new Non-Resident cases.

42 Total Cases, 28 released, 14 active
Active Cases:
Williston-1
Bronson- 1
Trenton (Levy Side)- 1
Chiefland- 8
Fanning Springs- 3

Cedar Key News Editor's Note:
These Levy Emergency Management Updates will  not occur daily.
Instead, uupdates will occur , and be pbulished, as data change.

For the purpose of this information, released means that a patient that has previously tested positive has met the required isolation period of a minimum of 14 days, has had no symptoms or fever for at least 72 hours, and is no longer required to isolate and is no longer being monitored by the FDOH.

In order for us to continue to flatten the curve and get everyone back to a sense of normalcy, it is VITAL that everyone continue to practice social distancing: Stay at home as much as possible, clean your hands often, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, cover coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect high touch surfaces, avoid crowds, especially groups over 10 people, maintain 6ft distance between you and others, cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others, and continue to follow all CDC recommended precautions.
