Students Learn Water Protection

Jim Hoy

These new signs appeared along G Street at each storm drain entrance November 29. The signs were painted by the Student Advocates for Clean Water. The project is an example of how students from Cedar Key, Chiefland, Bronson and Williston do public service though a student government organization that meets once a year in each city.

The current project is to generate public awareness of keeping drains open and trash free. City Commissioner Sue Colson planned the project and gave the students a brief lecture on how inportant it is to protect the Gulf and the Florida Aquifer. She compared the Cedar Key drainage system with those of inland cities.
