The Blue Bird Dog, a highlighted painting in the Kates show.

The Cedar Key Arts Center opened its March art show which exhibits the work of Sam Kates. Kates, who now lives in St. Joe Beach has served as museum director and art show judge, but now as a painter . He has been a participant in past art shows in Cedar Key and is expected to participate in the 2008 Old Florida Celebration of the Arts, April 12 & 13. Many of Kates` paintings are of boats regularly seen in the waters of Cedar Key.

Seahorse Key Palms.

Miller Time, the Squires boat on its way in.

Old Bridge Pilings -- not every boat is on the water.

Cedar Key Osprey.

Anastasia, a sponger boat tied up after the Big Dock was destroyed by a hurricane.

The above six paintings are just a few of the many paintings on display through Marc at the Cedar Key Arts Center.
