Meet Fr. Jim Wright

Jim Hoy

Father Jim Wright serves the Cedar Key Christ Episcopal Church. He is also a contributor to the Cedar Key News religion column beginning with the current issue of Cedar Key News. Father Wright has been visiting Cedar Key since the 1970's, but only recently was assigned to serve the local church.

Prior to entering the Berkeley Hall Divinity School in Rochester, NY in 1986 Father Wright practiced law for nine years. His wife, Nancy, is an attorney. The Wrights have three children, a daughter who is in the Peace Corp, a son in school at the University of Florida and a daughter who is a senior in high school.

Father Wright, during an interview, told Cedar Key News that his favorite book of the Bible is Luke. St. Luke was a physician, a fact that explains the emphasis on healing in his writing and Father Wright's attraction to him.

In addition to Father Wright's work in Cedar Key, he is active in work with homeless people in Gainesville. In the past he has served as Director of the Homeless Coalition in Gainesville.

When asked what his special mission is in Cedar Key he said that he wants to tell what God can do for people's lives.
