STUDENTS CELEBRATED
May 23, 2019
Five Cedar Key School students were celebrated by the community this past Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 10:30 am in the school auditorium. Their accomplishment is the completion of a new aquaculture course, designed by Cedar Key experts in the field: Sue Colson, Leslie Sturmer, Rachel Weatherington, and others. The goal of the course is for students to gain certifications in the many areas critical to the industry. These areas included such topics as: cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, first aid, boating safety, water quality, safety in the workplace, and United Statas Coast Guard boating safety.
In addition to working through the certification necessities in the field and in the classroom, the five students passed an extensive examination administered by the Florida Aquaculture Certification Association.
The students are: Joey Stewart, Zander Stanley, Dillan Allen, Sam Parks, Trey Stanfield

The five students received their Aquaculture Certificates and were awarded with “starter kits” consisting of a clam basket, a clam bag made by Island Bags, a copy of the Everlasting booklet that traces aquaculture in the community, and an additionally important gift: clam seeds donated by the following organizations:
