VOLUNTEERING UPDATE FROM UF/IFAS NCBS
May 29, 2020
...a note from Savanna Barry
I know you have all been patiently awaiting an update about volunteer activities with us at the Nature Coast Biological Station. UF/IFAS Admin has issued guidance that will allow us to resume some volunteer activities by June. The allowable activities are those that are outdoors, occur in small groups or solo, and have little to no sharing of equipment.
First, I want you to understand that you are not being asked to resume. If you are uncomfortable with performing volunteer work, you do not have to do anything, this is only for people who want to take part.
In order to participate in volunteer activities, you must agree to a general set of safety protocols. There may also be additional safety protocols that are specific to each activity issued at a later time (e.g., there will be additional guidance for Horseshoe Crab Watch coming this fall).
We must have a written acknowledgement that you understand the safety guidelines before you can volunteer with us. If you wish to resume volunteering, please read the attached letter and send an email to Emily Colson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) stating that you agree to follow the If you do not wish to resume, or if you are unsure, no action is needed at this time.attached guidance. We will ask in advance of volunteer shifts and projects as needed so you will have other chances.
Best,
Savanna
