SUWANNEE RIVER FORECAST March 29, 2005 , 2:00pm NWS - Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Services The National Weather Service, Tallahassee, Fl has informed Levy County Emergency Management that the Suwannee River continues to slowly rise due to the heavy rains predicted and already received over the past several weeks in North Florida and South Georgia. According to the NWS, Levy Co. residents of Fowlers Bluff, Fl will be experiencing water levels of 4.7 ft to 5.4 ft above mean sea level including tidal effects and rainfall predicted through 4/7/05. Maximum water height of 5.4 ft is predicted for Monday, April 11, 2005. IMPACT STATEMENT At 10.0 ft.- County Road 347 will flood...cutting off 60 or more houses. At 7.0 ft - MINOR FLOODING BEGINS. Water will enter many of the houses not built on stilts. At 5.0 ft - 46th Lane in Fowlers Bluff will become impassable in some areas. Three homes...not built on stilts...will start to flood. Flood Stage for Fowlers Bluff is 7ft above mean sea level and the Suwannee River at Manatee Springs and Fowlers Bluff IS EXPECTING SOME FLOODING to occur on 46th Lane, in Yards and in Homes not built on Stilts according to the NWS, Tallahassee Florida. Sandbags and Sand ARE AVAILABLE at the Fowlers Bluff Vol. Fire Department for your convenience. Residents of Fowlers Bluff know a "thing or two" about their relationship with the Suwannee River and are encouraged to contact Levy County Emergency Management during normal hours or Levy Co. Sheriff`s Dept. after hours and on weekends should anyone require assistance. There may be Boat ramp closings over the next few days. If so we will send you the updates.
