Mrs. Gerhart has 12 years experience in crustacean research, including projects on horseshoe crabs, stone crabs and blue crabs. Her program will give an overview on the horseshoe crabs of Florida`s West Coast, plus she will give details of current research being conducted by her group and others.

Mrs. Gerhart became coordinator of the FWRI Horseshoe Crab Spawning Survey in 2003 and represents FWC on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Horseshoe Crab Technical Committee. She recently published a technical report titled "A Review of the Biology and Management of Horseshoe Crabs, with Emphasis on Florida Populations."
