It`s National Library Week 2008 Join the circle of knowledge @ your library®: celebrate National Library Week with the Levy County Public Library System April 13-19 It's National Library Week, a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians library workers and library volunteers in communities and schools nationwide. It is the perfect time to discover how you can join the circle of knowledge @ your library® by applying for a library card or filling out an application to volunteer. The Levy County Public Library System is celebrating National Library Week by honoring their volunteers at a luncheon on Friday, April 18th and by holding a fines amnesty week on overdue library material. A fines amnesty period is a chance for library patrons to return books and other library materials, which are overdue, without incurring a fine. So dust off that book you have been meaning to return and get it into the library during the week of April 13th. The amnesty will not apply to fines already accrued but National Library Week would be a great time to pay those off and clear your record. Everyday, libraries in big cities and small towns, in schools and in businesses help transform their communities, At libraries, people of all ages come together for programs, to do research with the assistance of a trained professional, or to use the Internet to get a job, to find homework help or to stay in touch with family and friends. People can find materials for leisure time activities, or to fulfill an educational need. National Library Week, first occurring in 1958, is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April.
