Thank You Cedar Key!

Lions Recycle for Sight provides 250 pairs
of eyeglasses from Cedar Key.

Thanks to donations of used eyeglasses from Cedar Key area residents, the Cedar Key Lions Club delivered 250 pairs of used prescription glasses and prescription and non-prescription sunglasses to the Florida Lions Reclamation Center in Ocala. There, the glasses will be will be cleaned, categorized by prescription, and prepared for distribution in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.

In most developing countries, an eye exam can cost as much as one month's wages and a single eye doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people.

So, for all who participated, thanks! Your effort to rummage through drawers and boxes for old glasses and recycling them is making vision care and eyesight possible for children and adults who would otherwise have no access to vision care at all.

The Lions Club welcomes donations of used prescription eyeglasses, cases, lenses, and frames, as well as used non-prescription sunglasses. Specially marked Lions Recycle For Sight collection boxes are located at City Hall and the Drummond Community Bank on 2nd street.

On behalf of the 250 children and adults who will be receiving eyeglasses because you recycled your old ones,

Thank you, Cedar Key!
