ANNOUNCEMENT

Lions Club Sponsors Health Fair
Free Health Screenings March 6

The Cedar Key Lions Club is sponsoring its 4th Annual Community Health Fair at the 6th Street Community Center (former Lions Club building) on Friday, March 6th from 9:30 am until 1 pm.

The Cedar key Lions Club invites everyone in the community to attend and take advantage of the free health screenings and resources available to participants.

Free health screenings include bone density tests, diabetes screening, blood pressure tests, BMI and body fat analysis, oxygen level evaluations, along with free vision and hearing screening courtesy of the Lions Vision Van.

Fasting blood testing from 9:30 am until 11:00 am for cholesterol and PSA, is available for $5 each, while a Lipid profile can be had for $10.

"At our last health fair, we had one in ten residents come in for a wellness check up, " said Lion Roland Senecal, whose wife Eileen, a registered nurse, is organizing the Health Fair. "We've had participants surprised to discover they had diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, or high cholesterol problems. We hope everyone can attend, because early detection of potential health threats helps save sight, hearing, and lives."

The Lions Club Vision Van, the Lifesouth Blood Mobile and area health care providers and representatives from the Veterans Administration, Social Security, Medicaid Department of Children and Families, Homecare Services, Haven Hospice, Area Health Education Center, The Center for Independent Living, the Levy county Health Department, the American Cancer Society, The Center for Independent Living and others will have information and staffed booths at the Fair.

Breakfast will be provided and available for a donation to the Cedar Key Lions Club.
