A week ago, Cedar Key News reported that its staff had spoken to Stoney Smith, manager of the property upon which sits the Cedar Key Post Office, who informed us that the post office building construction should be completed by October 31.    

In another telephone interview today, Smith explained that the walkthrough, originally planned for Friday, October 31, was postponed until Wednesday, November 2.  In that walkthrough, several construction adjustments were made; those items, said Smith, were completed as of today.  “Our construction crew is done now,” he said. “I’m embarrassed that it took so long,” expressed Smith.  “We want to get this office open.”

Mr. Smith explained that the post office building is now ready for the post office staff to begin its work.
