Charges are pending against an 18-year old Chiefland man in the death of Cedar Key resident Terry Ray "Red" Cole, 46, early Saturday morning near Chiefland.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Mr. Cole was lying in the southbound lane of County Road 345 when he was struck by the 1998 Dodge Caravan driven by Guy Austin Eads of Chiefland, who was driving south at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Eads told officers he did not see the pedestrian in time to avoid hitting him. Mr. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene by Levy County EMS.

Mr. Cole is survived by his two sons, Nick and Terry, both of Cedar Key.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Cole are pending and will be announced by Cedar Key News as soon as they are available.
