Cedar Key`s newly constructed Big Dock isn`t completely finished yet, but officials decided to open it anyway so that 4th of July visitors and residents could enjoy it for the National Holiday.

One of the first parties to take advantage of the new fishing opportunity was our own Josh Wilson, Cedar Key`s code enforcement official, who brought his two sons and his nephew for an afternoon of fishing Thursday afternoon.

One of the finger piers and a few other items need finishing. Officials haven`t said when the final "sign-off" will take place, but it should be prior to the end of July.
