Visitors Win Cedar Key News Contest

Jim Hoy

During the first three months of 2008, visitor and local sidewalk engineers made predictions of when the construction of the "Big Dock" would be finished. Many of those engineers entered Cedar Key News' contest to pick the completion date. On August 7, 2008 the winners were identified. Fortunately there was a tie breaker rule because two people picked August 7.

The winners are as follows:
First Place, Diana Marks, Tarpon Springs, FL, who had the earliest post mark on her contest entry form.
Second Place: Gay Sampson, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, whose contest entry was postmarked forty-three day after that of the first place winner.
Third Place: Mary Ann Gilman, Port Haywood, VA, who was two day too optimistic in her estimate of the completion date.

The winners will be notified by mail of their good luck. Ms. Marks' first place prize is a $100 check from Lucas Marine Construction. Ms. Sampson's second place prize is a gift certificate for $75 given by The Island Room Restaurant. Ms. Gilman's third place prize is a gift certificate for $50 given by Bryan Skarupski, good at either the Market at Cedar Key or Bryan' Big Deck Raw Bar.
