Busy Time at City Hall

Busy Time at City Hall

Jim Hoy

The front desk at Cedar Key`s City Hall has been busy with oil spill cleanup volunteer sign-ups and requests for absentee ballots for the May 25 Runoff Election. As of May 19, seventy-one people have signed up to help with water cleanup and seventy have signed up for wildlife cleanup. There will be required training for volunteers prior to arrival of oil pollution, to be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, voters that hope to vote in the Runoff Election by absentee ballot have applied for seventy-five ballots. Requests for absentee ballots now far outnumber the thirty-six absentee ballots cast in the May 4 election in which Ricky Cooke and Scott Dennison tied in number of votes.

Supervisor of Elections Frances Hodges asks that voters return ballots as soon as possible to be certain that ballots arrive by mail prior to the May 25 election.
