Nationally Acclaimed Wildlife Experts to Speak at Nature Coast Wildlife Experience

In addition to the many presentations and field trips offered during the up Coming Nature Coast Wildlife Experience the event win also host several engaging and informative keynote speakers. These events will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Cedar Key Lions Club. Refreshments will be served.

On Thursday evening at 6:30 P.M. Lovett E. Williams Jr. Ph.D. will speak about the variety and abundance of shore birds found along our nearby coastal marsh areas. He will highlight the oyster catcher, and will also discuss the feasibility of creating spoil islands to encourage and enhance nesting grounds for many of these species.

On Friday, Lovett, who lives in Cedar Key and is a 6th generation Floridian, will be the featured speaker. He received his B.S. in Zoology at the Florida State University, his MS. in Wildlife Biology at Auburn University and his PhD in Wildlife Ecology at the University of Florida. He has an extensive background in wildlife biology and ecology. He worked for the State of Florida in wildlife management for 20 years. He has authored and co-authored numerous published books and technical papers. In more recent years he has become a nationally recognized authority on the wild turkey, having written and published several popular books on the subject.

Lovett is a highly sought after and entertaining speaker and promises to enlighten and intrigue those who hear him speak.

On Friday morning the event will host a pancake breakfast. On this occasion Dr, Eli Whitney will speak on the subject of Florida`s unique and diverse habitats, having spent a great deal of time in the Cedar Key area. She will devote special emphasis to our own unique area. Dr Whitney, who holds a Ph. D in Environ-mental Ecology, recently co-authored a book on Florida habitat`s entitled "Priceless Florida". The book has recently been published by Pineapple Press and will be available at the event.

On Thursday evening award winning and nationally known wildlife photographer John Moran will offer his highly acclaimed presentation on Wildlife Photography. John is a retired photographer from the Gainesville Sun. His work has appeared in many prestigious birding and wildlife magazines. John last appeared in Cedar Key several years ago at which time he captivated the large audience with his award winning photography.

On Saturday evening, nationally known wildlife artist and naturalist Ron Louque will be the keynote speaker. Rona has been studying, photographing, and painting wildlife practically all of his life. He is this year's winner of the national duck stamp award. He is a highly sought after speaker and has appeared on ESPN Out Doors on several occasions.
