Sharks Falter against Seven Rivers By: Jessi Robinson In the first match against Seven Rivers, the Middle School Volleyball team started out strong, and then slowly began to wear down, ending with a score of 25-15. The second match ended with a score of 25-4. Starters Molly Gordon and Claire Brown both had 3 good serves each. As for service puts, Gordon also had 4 adequate ones. Coach Malinda Rowland stated that, "In the first match, the team started out in the lead, but then quickly began to let the others catch up; the girls really should've done better. " Cedar Key Cross Country Invitational By Lindsay Edmunds Williston Invitational Champion Micah Shelby hopes to lead the Cedar Key Cross Country team to victory in their only home meet of the season next Monday. Last Monday, in the Williston Invitational, the Cedar Key Boy's Cross Country team placed second out of five schools. Caely Hibbits, Zoë Stuber, Megan Martin, and Caitlyn were all ribbon winners. Joseph Bishop, Aaron Esposito, Frankie Beckham, John Henry, and Zoë Stuber all achieved their personal best times. The Varsity Boy's Cross Country team finished ninth out of fifteen schools at the Citrus Invitational. Micah Shelby finished eighth overall and Joseph Bishop set a new personal best. Sharks Fall to Dunnellon Christian By: Claire Brown Against Dunellon, the Middle School Sharks girls lost with a score of 25-8, and 25-12 in the second match, played on September 25th. Dunellon's court is located outside of their school because they do not have a gym and majority of the volleyball players said it was hard to play outside with the sun in their eyes. Coach Malinda Roland said "The girls could have done way better." After a long and hard practice on Wednesday Ms. Malinda hopes the girls will step it up and win some games before the season ends. |
