Parker Named to School Foundation Board of Directors

Philip Parker, Cedar Key resident and Florida Resource Manager for Plum Creek Timber Company, has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of the Levy County Schools Foundation. Parker`s appointment was confirmed at the February Board of Directors Meeting.

"We are honored to have a person of Mr. Parker`s knowledge and leadership abilities on our board as a director," says Bobbie Smith, past president and current Foundation board member. "Plum Creek`s commitment to sustainable forestry in our primarily agricultural, rural county creates a great partner for us," Smith added. In 2007 the Levy County Schools Foundation was a recipient of a Plum Creek Grant awarded to Williston High School FFA horticultural program.

Parker oversees sustainable forestry operations including planting, harvesting, and fire prevention and fire fighting; mapping, inventory and environmental compliance for approximately 592,000 acres of Plum Creek forests in Florida.

Parker graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management, and is Chairman of the Environmental Committee and on the Executive Board of the Florida Forestry Association

"Serving on the board is a privilege," said Parker. "I`m looking forward to making a contribution to the schools that benefit from the Plum Creek Foundation`s efforts."

The Levy County Schools Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation that expands the ability of local businesses, community groups and individuals to provide scholarships and fund special programs for Levy County Students.

Plum Creek is the largest and most geographically diverse private landowner in the nation with approximately 8 million acres of timberlands in major timber producing regions of the United States and 10 wood products manufacturing facilities in the Northwest.
