CEDAR KEY
VOLUNTEER FIRE AND RESCUE
HAS A BUSY QUARTER
July 18, 2015

Cedar Key Volunteer Fire and Rescue team, led by Fire Chief Robert Robinson, are busy people…and this quarter was no exception.  Every three months, the department publishes its Quarterly Report, a concise, handy, informative document that provides information to the team for study and planning and to the commission and the public for increased awareness.

The volunteers with whom Robinson works are your neighbors and, perhaps, your friends.  They certainly are relied upon by all Cedar Keyans.   They are:  James McCain, Jamie McCain, Ken McCain, Ken Daniel, John Andrek, Sharon Ingram, and Matt Addams.
This particular April through June 2015, Quarterly Report is categorized into seven “census tracts” or zones:
  • Cedar Key Zone Inside City; Cedar Key Zone County on Island;
  • Cedar Key Zone Off Island;
  • County on the Water;
  • Rosewood District with Responses from Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department;
  • Rosewood District with No Responses from Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department;
  • Rosewood District with No Responses from Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department.
Other reports have contained data from Fowlers Bluff when appropriate.
The April through June 2015, report logged some 62 incidents ranging from medical assists to fires and took the Cedar Key Fire Department personnel and equipment as far away as Rosewood (this quarter) and into the Gulf waters.

Over half of the 62 incidents involved medical assistance which means the Cedar Key team member or members are the first to respond to a call from a person needing help.  Be it broken leg, asthma attack, fall from a tree, Cedar Key Volunteer Fire and Rescue are appear first on your doorstep.  They are often followed by the Levy County Emergency Medical Services team.

The next most frequent incident type this quarter is, of course, fire…and fire of all sorts.  Forest fires, woodland fires, brush fires, building fires, and electrical wiring comprise the lot.

Robinson’s team also responded to automobile accidents and people in elevators and watercrafts in the Gulf.
It certainly is good to know the Cedar Key Fire and Rescue team is out there!
